So Hot won the Camerimage award

And the winner is…Congrats galore to the directors of the So Hot video! Today, it finally got the award for best cinematography in music video 2011 at Plus Camerimage, amongst film photographers the most prestigious award after Oscar.

“SO HOT” two nominations at PLUS CAMERIMAGE

The music video for ‘So Hot’ is nominated to the Best Cinematography and Best Music Video Award for the Music Videos Competition at PLUS CAMERIMAGE, the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography. The video is made by Karl Erik Brøndbo and Solfrid Kjetså and will be presented at the festival in a screening for the international panel of the jury and the festival audience. (November 26-December 3rd)
The song “So Hot” is taken off the album Risk And Investment by DU (Det är jag som er döden) and available in all e-stores + Wimp and Spotify. W/booklet on iTunes here

NOMINERT I TO KLASSER PÅ PRESTISJETUNG FILMFESTIVAL

Musikkvideoen “SO HOT” som ble laget i 2010 har blitt vist på festivaler over hele verden og har vunnet gull i Visueltkonkurransen 2011 i klassen “Moving Image”.
Videon, som er laget av Karl Erik Brøndbo og Solfrid Kjetså, er nå nominert i kategoriene “Best Cinematography” og “Best Music Video Award” under PLUS CAMERIMAGE – The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography. Camerimage er verdens største filmfestival med fokus på filmfotografer.

Musikkvideoen utspiller seg i et post-tsjernobylsk univers med en gammel mann, en ung gutt og en hønsehauk.
- Vi var inspirert av bilder fra spøkelsesbyen Prypiat i Ukraina – byen som lå så nær Tsjernobylkraftverket at alle måtte rømme på dagen.
- Naturen er nå i ferd med å ta tilbake stedet, forteller regissør Karl Erik Brøndbo.

Det tok en måned å lage videoen fordi et stort sett måtte bygges i studio og visuelle effekter måtte planlegges grundig i og med at alt ble skutt på bare to dager. Etter hundrevis av gjennomlyttinger av sangen oppsto den assosiative drømmeaktige logikken til filmen.

- Vi har prøvd å lage noe veldig visuelt, og det er derfor stas å bli nominert på den presisjetunge Camerimage-festivalen som legger spesiell vekt på det visuelle og estetiske, sier Brøndbo.

PLUS CAMERIMAGE arrangeres i Bydgoszcz i Polen fra 26. november – 3.desember.

ADJAGAS JULY TOUR, USA

Indie music scene and native America come together to have alternative Norwegian Sámi band ADJAGÀS over to USA for a two-week mini tour. ADJAGÀS will play more than 10 venues. In Illinois they will support Chicago´s faveourite indie band, The Sea And Cake. In Santa Fe, ADJAGÀS will be greeted by Cherokee actor, activist and musician, Wes Studi (Avatar, Last of the Mohicans, Heat). ADJAGÀS will end their tour in New York City, performing two nights in both Brooklyn and Manhattan with Corpse of Discovery, a free-form music collective initiated by Bryan Zimmerman in Brooklyn and Queens.The New York gigs are in collaboration with Jim Jarmusch. Berlin´s Norwegian gem

Berlin’s electro music scene has a little Norwegian gem on it’s hands and it’s called Sandra Kolstad. With a wonderful synth-pop sound and instantly danceable and poptastic tunes we can’t see this lady staying off your radar for too much longer. Read more.

BEHIND THE ARTWORK

The cover photo of Sandra Kolstad’s debut album Crux (due out April 29) is made by Marco Bruzzone, an Italian artist and curator living in Berlin.

Marco Bruzzone often documents his work outdoors. As for this photo, the canvas with a circle of bird excrements stands on a random street in France.

Sandra Kolstad explains why she wanted to use Bruzzone to design the album artwork:
- I´m intrigued by his work. I certainly see a twinkle in his eye, the work is outstandingly elegant. We decided to use a photograph of one of my favorites: the canvas with bird poop.

The story behind the canvases (2.5 x 2.5 m) started when Marco saw a circle with bird excrement at the Oslo airport when he went to Norway for an exhibition:
- Fascinated by the circle he built an installation in a room – a circular wooden board hanging from the ceiling – and let pigeons into the room. They sat on the round board. Under it he put a large canvas, she explains. – Like a printer.

The circular pigeons’ excrement path on the large canvas is a piece of Marco Bruzzone´s Cold War project, a body of work started in the beginning of 2006 and produced along 2009-2010, with the support of Atelier de Production PARIA in Saint Etienne, France.

At its core, Cold War is the discussion of the idea of standards: how a rule makes one perform a certain reality and how this could produce mass aesthetics.

At the centre of Bruzzone´s research is the moment in which an individual starts to see an alternative to an existing standardised system.

Rockettothesky i The Daily Mail-kampanje, forhåndsbestill Sacred Harp debutalbum m.m

The Daily Mail skal bruke låten Grizzly Man av Rockettothesky i en reklamekampanje for seksjonen Femail. Kampanjen er omfattende og starter 6. februar og vil gå i seks måneder på britiske og irske tv-kanaler. Grizzly Man er på albumet Medea som kom ut i 2008 (Trust Me). Den finnes også som musikkvideo.

Rockettothesky, som er Jenny Hval, kommer dessuten ut med sitt tredje album neste måned, men i motsetning til hennes to første utgivelser, er artistnavnet nå Jenny Hval og gis denne gangen ut på Rune Grammofon. De har releaseparty 17. mars på John Dee i Oslo. Support er den norske kvartetten Sacred Harp som debuterer på Trust Me med albumet Window´s a Fall.

Musikalsk beveger Sacred Harp seg mellom gammel blues, støyrock, doom og elektronisk samtidsmusikk. De pløyer dypt og inviterer lytteren inn i sin verden der inspirasjon fra blant annet Twin Peaks er hørbart. Albumet slippes 14.februar og kan forhåndsbestilles her. Sacred Harp drar på to miniturnéer i Norge og Tyskland i mars. T.B.A.

LUCY SWANN er klar for by:Larm, etterfulgt av spillejobber i London og en vinylutgivelse på Rough Trade som låner låta For Heaven´s Sake til 7tommer. Lucy Swann ga ut debutalbumet La Petit Morte for et år siden og jobber nå med nye låter til oppfølgeren som er klar for verden januar 2012. Før den tid deler vi en smakebit eller tre via itunes. SACRED HARP pre-release konsert

Sacred Harp har fullført sin første fullengder som har fått navnet Window’s a Fall og feirer dette med en liten pre-release konsert på Mono tirsdag 11. januar. Sacred Harp beveger seg mellom det sakrale, sakte og skjøre til det brutale, råe og intense, og man kan høre fjerne ekko av gammel blues, støyrock, doom og elektronisk samtidsmusikk tatt gjennom en pervertert popkvern.
Debutalbumet Window´s a Fall byr på en cinematisk opplevelse som trenger seg gjennom sinnets avkroker. Den pløyer dypt og inviterer lytteren inn i sin verden der inspirasjon fra blant annet Twin Peaks er hørbart.

Adjágas is super proud being one of only two bands competing for a huge scholarship (and the only indigenous band in the contest too). Whether Adjágas or our good friend Paul Moddi Knutsen wins this fantastic grant, will be decided by the people! It’s down to Adjágas and Moddi.

We are making this event in order to send all the info you need to help us. The poll does not begin before the 5th of July and lasts for only 2 days. Konstaterer ydmykt en hatrick: Adjagas er åttende aktør ut i Aftenpostens serie om de 10 mest nyskapende i norsk kulturliv. Og Trust Me´s tredje artist i samme serie. Tidligere er Jenny Hval/Rockettothesky og Haddy N´jie omtalt.

Adjagas kan få a-ha stipendet

De siste ukene har de tre a-ha-medlemmene Magne Furuholmen, Morten Harket og Paul Waaktaar-Savoy sammen med seks jurymedlemmer arbeidet seg gjennom en liste på førti navn – og skåret den ned til åtte heldige finalister. PEACE, the first music atlas in the net.

PEACE, a unique initiative co-produced by Buffetlibre and Amnesty International Catalunya, is finally available, including more than 180 exclusive and unreleased songs by artists from more than 50 countries. The compilation is digitally available worldwide here and can be downloaded after making a donation to Amnesty International Catalunya. The collected money will be used for AI’s investigation and action campaigns aimed at preventing cases of Human Rights abuses around the world.

Among the 182 artists participating in this project there are acclaimed musicians and exciting new talents from countries and territories such us USA, England, Norway, France, Spain, China, Mali, Japan, Congo, Senegal, Venezuela, Cuba, Israel, Palestine, New Zealand, Tibet, Turkey or Thailand, to name only a few.

The Norwegians artists are Rockettothesky, Ane Brun and Ingrid Olava.. Rockettothesky contributes with her very own version of David Bowie´s Heroes.

All the songs included in PEACE are available for streaming as well as information on all artists participating in the project. The full compilation, downloadable through a donation to Amnesty International Catalunya, includes all the songs in 320Kbps mp3 format. Enjoy PEACE.
